Why Chemical Etching: CGE allows tempered glass to retain its shatter resistance. It does not change the structural quality, Clear coating is not required, and it is easier to clean. Acid etching Allows: Greater graphic flexibility, finer, smoother, more consistent texture, better fingerprint resistance.About Etching Glass: Glass etching is the abrading or roughening of a piece of glass in selected areas in order to produce a design. It is a way to produce a “frosted” design on the surface, but it is much more than that! Glass etched or glass frosting is a beautiful and elegant method of creating a graphic design on the surface of an otherwise smooth piece of glass. Just as important, it is permanent and will never come off. Custom etched and carved glass has become extremely popular these days, and you see it everywhere in upscale restaurants, hotels, banks, theaters and homes.

GLASS SCULPTURE

The current booming interest in designs etched in glass only started about 20 years ago, first with architectural glass etching applications (for example, glass door etching, glass wall etch, partition, etching and windows), but has now spread into etched glass awards, corporate and personal gifts, elements for interior design and decorative chemical etching of table tops, room dividers, tables, cabinet doors, etc., signs and much more.

Hydrofluoric acid etching is still used although extremely dangerous there are alternatives to decorative etching. Corporations love logo etching to reproduce their design in an elegant fashion.

Sandblasting or sandblasted glass has the same effect of chemical etching but weakens the structure of glass.

Chemical etching allows:

  • GREATER GRAPHIC FLEXIBILITY
  • FINER, SMOOTHER
    & MORE CONSISTENT TEXTURE
  • BETTER FINGERPRINT RESISTANCE
